In remembrance of KOBE Bryant and his legacy.

There is no doubt that Kobe's legacy is enormous. And what people remember is the care he showed, how he made people feel, and how he lived out his values across his personal and work life.

Kobe’s unwavering confidence in himself and his commitment to doing the hard, unseen work requires and showed his true greatness.

Over the course of time people did question the size of his ego; which became known as the “Mamba Mentality,” an approach to mental toughness that he made famous later in his career.

There was a notable time early in his career where several people also questioned his shooting. This after 4 embarrassing air balls and letting a must-have game slip away with each of his misses. After the game, a bunch of reporters gathered around his locker; and several wondered how he would defend himself. Kobe’s response; “I had some good looks,” he said. “I just didn’t hit the shots.”

What he was saying, in effect, was “this is a chapter I have to get through in order to write a book worth reading.”

He was fearless; which was one of the many things that spurred him to greatness. And he wasn’t going to allow himself to fail. Kobe brought consistency and commitment day in and day out.

This is my take away…while we might not all impact the world in the same way; we all have that same opportunities to align our values in every facet of our lives.

There’s no way it can be argued that something good can come from a passing. But I think that Kobe will smile down on us as we take the first step and commit right now to learn the many valuable lessons from his life and career - and then apply them to our own lives.

Take this ‘life inventory’ with me today and remember his words; “you have to fail before you can succeed.” Let’s develop the ‘Mamba Mentality’ and keep blazing trails for generations to come.
